Awesome upcoming workshop! Local author Kaolin come to the North Star to talk about race on Tuesday, March 22. Kaolin designed a course titled “Let’s Talk About Race” and taught it for a year at UMass. The book, Talking About Race is about that experience. The students are quoted in it. Many of the students were white and middle to working class. Each student struggled with values. Values are not simply economic or academic. They encompass our relationships to one another, or curiosity, our fears and our ideals. Talking About Race examines our fantasies about one another, our clashes with one another and the affect the origins of our opinions may have about ourselves and others.
